Our staff development workshops focus on preparing students for the New York State ELA Assessment using best practices in literacy.

Educators learn a practical approach to integrating test preparation across the curriculum while also differentiating instruction. Workshops explore the basics of the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade tests using the Standard and Performance Indicator Maps from 2006 and previous test questions.

Our presenter will also demonstrate how to use the graphic organizers and writing templates in the 172 page teacher resource book to build reading comprehension, create more confident writers and improve student performance on state assessments.

Test preparation begins in kindergarten!  The SIMPLE system outlined at each workshop was initially designed to be introduced in kindergarten.  Since the system is scaffolded and differentiated, it's basic enough to begin in kindergarten and comprehensive enough to be used through 5th grade!

Consistency across the grade levels is a major factor to success on state assessments, and the ELA Instruction Made SIMPLE system helps students achieve that success.
